Scope note
Modern looms designed to draw the weft from a stationary supply through the warp yarn by means of projectiles, rapiers, or water/air jets, rather than traditional shuttles. Without the use of shuttles, these looms do not utilize the pirn winding process thus reducing manufacturing costs and auxiliary operations while increasing filling insertion speeds. Patened in 1928 by Rudolf Rossman, the shuttleless loom plays an important role in adjusting fabric structures, reducing fabric defets, improving fabric quality, and reducing machinery noises.
